What is Forio Broadcast?

Broadcast makes it easy to create a simulation on the web.

With Broadcast, people who don't know anything about HTML or web servers can create, edit, and distribute web simulations, using a program that is as easy as a word processor. Broadcast will automatically build your simulation interface according to templates you apply. You can include pictures, sounds, and other media elements with your simulation. After you get comfortable with HTML and Forio Macro Language, you can bypass the templates and customize your simulation as much as you like.

Here are just a few examples of the kinds of simulations you can build with Broadcast:

  • financial planning simulations

  • capital investment simulations

  • change management simulations

  • communicating with customers
    “Advergames”

  • research and development simulations

  • capacity planning simulations

Broadcast separates the work of creating a simulation model from the work of creating a simulation interface.  Because Broadcast keeps the model equations separate from the interface design, you can change the model or interface in one place, and every simulation result in your interface changes accordingly.

Once you set up your simulation, updating it is just as easy as using a simple word processor. You can use the built-in editor within Broadcast or copy-and-paste model equations and HTML files from your own editor into Broadcast.

Broadcast is built around a powerful simulation engine. Different people can run your simulation simultaneously without any risk of conflict or corruption. You can have a whole classroom banging away on your simulation at the same time; even a virtual classroom, with users all over the world!

We think you'll find that Broadcast is an extremely powerful tool, but one that's quite easy to understand.  To get started, try the tutorial which will send you on a whirlwind tour for about an hour.  After that, you'll only need to consult the documentation occasionally.
