In Interface mode hovering the mouse pointer over any part of the component (input area or text area) causes the tool tip to appear. Once published, the tool tip only appears when the mouse pointer hovers over the text area, and disappears when hovering over the input area. It will reappear if the pointer returns to hover over the text area.

Hello Bill,

This was an explicit design decision. Our though was that it would be annoying to have a tooltip show up when trying to type text into the text input, therefore we would only display the tooltip over the label for the input. If you would like us to change this behavior we are more then willing, just let us know.

Hi Billy,

I have noticed however, that the placement of the tooltip, regardless of where in/on the component the mouse hover takes place, has a very nice offset. That is, it appears (for me) cleanly below and shifted a bit to the right of the component (the left edge of the tooltip is shifted right of the left edge of the component.)

I think that user instinctive behavior is to hover over the input area of the component. In that scenario, no tooltip appears.

Based on the behavior of the tooltip now I would encourage a rethink on allowing the tooltip to appear when there is mouse hover anywhere in/on the component.

From the end of this thread, it seems as though the tooltip should popup whenever the mouse pointer hovers over any of the decision slider component-- text or slider. That is not what happens in the published UI where only the text triggers the popup. This is what happens in the UI Designer and what I would find useful.

I have a series of decision sliders for which I have loaded associated tooltips. I have turned off the label for the slider because I can make a more compact device by making a separate text field placed above the slider and including a text decision. ( see at https://forio.com/simulate/climateinteractive/en-roads/simulation/dashboard.html?resource=test#p=page1 ) This is case where it is natural for the user to point to the slider and I would like the tooltip to popup when they point to the slider itself as well as the text. The tip disappears when the users does a mouse-down which is perfect.

Is there any possibility of reinstituting the settings mentioned a the end of this thread, i.e., the tooltip triggered by any part of the Decision slider?
