"Current Run" in run comparison

To allow users compare runs, I have added one line graph to my interface and have made it's graph comparable. The variable plotted by this graph is selected via a variable selector. The graph also has a legend.

The issue is that legend has one extra item called "Current Run" which is irrelevant (as there is no current run, rather there are runs selected by user to be compared). How I can remove this "Current Run" from the legend and only keep the entry for the runs included by user.

My second question is regarding the Data Table. In the same interface, I have added a Data Table as "Compare Run Table". Now I want to link the variable shown by this table to the variable selector I described before. But when in the variable section I type "{$FVariableSelector133.selectedVariable}" it does not add the entry to the list! How I can link this variable selector to the Data Table? In addition, plus all selected runs by user, there is an extra "Current Run" here as well, which I haven't been able to get rid of, but I assume the answer to my previous question should solve this as well.

Thanks in advance for your help

Let me answer one at a time:

#1 Current run on a compare run graph

You currently cannot remove the current run from any graph.  That is because there is always a current run that the user is in control of.  This run in your case sounds like it has never been advanced and does not contain any decisions.  For this case I will have to check with the team internally in order to decide if we could add a checkbox which would allow you to hide the current run.  The also applies to the data table, and I will make the same feature request of the team internally.

#2 Variable Selectors and Data Tables in Compare Run mode

Currently the Data Table does not support the functionality exposed by the Variable Selector in the Compare Run mode.  Again I will have to confer with the team internally to come up with how we ought to respond to this request.

I apologize for not being able to say how to work around these issues, but I will check with the team and respond to you within the next 24 - 48 hours.

Best,

Billy

Thanks a lot for looking into these issues. As I explained, the problem with "Current Run" is that when user wants to compare two specific runs, say Run1 and Run2, although the graph shows only two lines one for each run, but the legend shows three entries, which the third one refers to the Current Run, which does not exist! This can cause confusion for the users of the interface.

This issue exist with the Data Table as well, as it shows the data for three cases: Run1, Run2, and Current Run which Current Run has only initial values!

I have seen other interfaces in Showcase which have implemented a similar interface and seems they don't have this issue (namely HealthBound), so I thought there might be some options which I am not aware of.

I am waiting for your response on this then, Thanks again for your help.

?path=billy&height=32 Billy Schoen... Administrator 255 posts Hi Aziza,

The current run always exists, it may just be that it has only initial values in it, which is what it sounds like in this case.

After your re-explanation I think the option that we would need to develop would be an option to deselected the current run in the compare run table.

As for Health Bound this sim is a custom simulation developed using flash directly, and not the UI designer.

Also would it be a problem if we gave you a response early next week like Monday?  Or do you need something sooner?

Thanks!

Billy

I noticed the point with Current Run, and as you said it holds an initial value only (which I guess is corresponded to a single value in the graph, rather than a line and that's why is not visible in the graph while it can be seen in the table).

Having an option for disabling the Current Run, particularly if the graph is Comparable can be very valuable.

There is no rush on this. Monday works fine as well.

Thanks
A.

?path=billy&height=32 Billy Schoen... Administrator 255 posts Hi Aziza,

We will add the option to the UI designer to disable the current run on a graph, or table.  My current best guess for delivery of this feature is April 30th.

As for the Variable Selector feature, we will contact you outside of the forums to discuss.

Best,

Billy

?path=wellesley&height=32 Aziza Mahamoud 18 posts Thanks Billy, Having this feature by the end of the month is good. Thanks for your help on this.

Also about the Variable Selector feature, can you please email me at "smh002@usask.ca"? Thanks
