Arial Black is not rendering smoothly. Is that related in any way to Embed Fonts? If not, are there other tweaks that will improve its look?

(Arial [plain] renders very nicely.)

?path=tantilla&height=32 tod antilla Moderator 30 posts Hi Bill,

I find that embedding fonts does smooth or anti alias the font more, particularly if you are scaling or transforming the font. Most of the time this is desirable but Arial black is thicker which depending on the font size may make it look blurred together. We have put the font settings to show the sharpest edge possible so that it matches the browsers system font rendering, but the flash player does not always render them in the same manner.  Have you tried using Arial plain with the bold attribute, or variations on Verdana or Helvetica ? Those fonts seem to compliment each other and in my opinion are sharper than Arial Black.

Hope that helps,

Best,
Tod

I am working to specification. I'll check with the graphic artist and get his opinion, and will pass along your suggestions.
