LogIn issue

Hi everybody!
I just bought a new basic simulation (mindthegame2) in order to copy a simulation I previously created (mindthegame). However, the new sim is stocked at the login page and I don't know why. I imported the same users and I gave exactly the same consitions in the section called "on login to simulation"... Could you please have a look? It's very important because tomorrow I'm going to use both the simulations! Thank you very much! Luca |

Hi Luca,
I will take a look right now. I will reply once I have an answer. Billy |

Hi Luca,
Your simulation appears to be multiplayer, and it does not look like you set roles for any of your 5 players in the User Access pages of simulate. You will want to go to: http://forio.com/simulate/lukargy/mindthegame2/useraccess/users/ and edit each user making sure to give each one a role. Once you do that they will be able to login and run the simulation using the settings you put under the On Login portion of the Document Settings Panel Billy |

That was so obvious! Thanks Billy!
Another thing: I often experience some bugs with the text boxes that show the results. I set up 3 conditionals so that the text should be related to the answer given by the players but sometimes the box appears totally empty! Is there something i can do in order to avoid this? Thank you very much! Luca |

Hi,
I would be happy to investigate. The most common cause is that you are not catching a case. What I like to do is have conditionals that look like this: If X is greater then 3 ... If X is greater then 2 ... If X is greater then 1 ... If X is less then or equal to 1 ..... This means that for any value of X there is guaranteed to be text to show. In order to investigate your problem I will need to know which page you have conditionals setup on where you have this problem. Billy |

Than you very much Billy!
You can have a look at it on mindtehgamen2 pages like "RisultatiCOmTask1"; "RisultatiViceTask2"; "ViceRisT3". In the simulation the players have to choose among 3 possibilities: they worth 1, 5 and 10. According to the most occorences answer the text has 3 conditionals: if x =1.... ; if X= 5....; if X=10... Thank you again: you are really great!! :D Luca |

I tried to set a new variable for the conditionals (swapping from "most occurences variable name" to "variable name[player]") and the text box is working! However, if I leave the "Most occurences variable name" variable, the box often remains empty...It's like the sim is not always able to read it.
For example, it works on: RISPOSTA DEB.all But it doesn't on: RISPOSTA DEB.all; RisulAllTask2; RisAllT3... Thank you for your help! |

Hi Luca,
I will take a look later this afternoon PST, I will reply when I have a handle on what is happening exactly. Thanks! Billy |

Hi Luca,
I am having a hard time following which conditionals on text are not working correctly for you. On the pages you have posted to me I do not see any conditionals on Text. I have seen two things that might be related to your problems though #1 On your pages with name IntroGara* in the Procedi tab you have radio buttons that say 480kg (selected value:1), 520kg (selected value:1), 500kg (selected value:10) #2 On RisulAllTask2 and the other pages like it you have buttons which have conditionals that have gaps in them Right now you have IF X greater then 20 ..... IF X less then 19 ..... This means you do not cover the case of 19 <= X <= 20 which may cause problems. If you would like I can setup something where you can demonstrate your problems to us using GotoMeeting. If that is appealing please let me know and I will e-mail you at the address you used when you signed up for Simulate. Billy |

Hi Billy!
Sorry about it! You are right: it's a bit difficult for me to explain the issue because the sim is pretty complex and there are many factors that have to be taken into consideration! By the way, I'll try to understand better where the problem is in order to be more precise. I'll let you know: if i'm not going to solve it the Gotomeeting idea will be perfect! Thank you very much again! Sorry to make you troubling! Luca |

Hello,
A couple of questions: -We've had some problems with the site freezing up, and when people log back in with their username, password they're brought back to the beginning of the game. In Document setting I had used the feature "On login" (if user logged in go to page), but it doesn't seem to recognize the user as already logged in. Any suggestions? -are there some internet browsers that are better to use than others? Sometimes action buttons on the sim don't seem to react: click on them with nothing happening. Thanks, Marcel |

Hi Marcel,
I am sorry to hear you are having problems, let me start by explaining what the functionality of the "On login" feature is. The "On login" feature allows users who are currently logged into Simulate to skip the login page for your simulation if they have been granted access by you the author. For this feature to take effect the user must have logged into Simulate somewhere else, then clicked on a link to run your sim. This feature will not take effect if a user was in your sim and clicked logout, then navigated back to your sim, or if the user had been logged into your sim, closed their browser, and re-opened it and tried to login. It sounds to me like what you may be trying to accomplished can be done using the Actions panel of the Login Components settings panel. This specifies where the user who is currently logged in ought to be directed if they are a facilitator, or user. Can you describe to me the situation where you are trying to use the "On login" feature? With that I may be able to better guide you. For Simulate we support IE7, IE8, IE9, IE10, Firefox 3.6+, Chrome, and Safari. UI Designer based sims are done in Flash and work best with Flash Player 10, or 11. Although the issue you describe where you click on buttons and nothing happens to me seems unrelated to the browser. Could you give me a specific example by sending me a link to a button that when you click on it, it does nothing? This could potentially happen if you give no actions to the button, or the button is disabled for some reason or another. Either way though I would like to look in to it. Thanks for your time, Billy |
