Ready to step - function
|

Hello,
I am building a multiplayer sim with 4 roles but only one team. Each of my roles have a "Ready to step" button on their individual site. As far as I understood, the sim will go to the next round, after all roles have hit the ready to step button. Actually, nothing happens after all buttons were clicked. Additionally, I added an "Step" Button to one roles page and after the button was clicked, the sim went to the next round for all roles. You have any guess, what I did wrong with the "Ready to step" Button? Thanks, Max |

Hi Max,
Your setup sounds right, same for the behavior of the plain old step action. Your problem may be in either the User Access pages where you may have misconfigured your users / roles / teams or in the model where you specify the roles. The only other problem that I can think of is to make sure that you aren't playing all 4 roles in the same browser (aka you can't have each role on a separate tab). If you were playing the game as all four roles in the same browser, but different tabs please try using separate browsers, or separate computers. If this was not the case please send me a link to your simulation so that I can double check your model / User Access setup. Billy |

Hi Billy,
thanks for your quick answer. I have used different browsers in the first place and afterwards even different computer, but this was not the mistake. I used: "M MultiplayerRoles = Retailer, Distributor, Wholesaler, Factory" to define my four roles. In the user access tab, I created four users and added everyone to the same group. Additionally I took them all in the same team and gave one of the four roles to everyone. I hope this could help you? Thanks, Max |

Hi Max,
When I checked the User Access page I did not see all players on the same team. In fact I saw the Team Column blank, so I put all your players on the same Team. Remember that teams are Integers from 1 - N Please try now, Billy |

Hi Billy,
You must have checked the User Access while I was trying some settings. Every player is now part of Team "1". But unfortunately it's still not working and I set the settings like you have shown in one of your webinars. I really don't know why it's not working. I mean the multiplayer mode must be partly correct otherwise it would not bring all users simultaneously in the next round by using the "Step" Button. Thanks, Max |

Hi Billy,
just a thing I remembered. I had a timer function in simulation and I deleted it because I did not want to go forward by a timer. Before I deleted it, every of the four users who logged in with their account, got automatically logged into the Beer Game Sim. That is not happening any longer. Other thing I noticed, is that the model is not visible any longer, it was there before I deleted the timer. I reuploaded the model, but still all lines are blank. Maybe there is some corruption with the model or so. It is created with Vensim. Hope that will help you a little bit! Thanks, Max |
