SoftStrat Software Platform Migration
SoftStrat is a management simulation game whose goal is to teach students how to make strategic decisions in complex, dynamic market settings. The simulation was developed in partnership with Professor Mohan Sawhney, marketing and technology management faculty at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
You are placed in the role of the Chief Strategy Officer for MegaSoft, an enterprise software firm. MegaSoft has been successful in selling on-premise enterprise software to large companies for many years but now finds itself in search of new revenue sources in the SMB segment. It is also facing a disruptive competitor called Netware, a smaller SaaS (software as a service) enterprise software vendor.
As CSO, you must decide how to allocate scarce financial resources across R&D, marketing, and operations investments as well as set prices for your legacy and SaaS software offerings.
