Copying a Sim

Depending on the account type, sim authors can choose to allow their simulations to be copied by other users. Copying a sim permits users to modify the sim's attributes, such as the model equations and user interface. Only the copied version of the sim is modified, not the original sim.

Copying a Sim

  1. Click on the sim you want to copy; this will take you to the Sim Overview page. If the author has permitted their simulation to be copied, you will see the Copy this simulation link above the sim's image. Click on the Copy this simulation link to view the copy options.

  2. The copy options screen allows users to create a new title for the sim, view the URL, and to choose copying only the sim model (model equations) or to copy both the sim model and the user interface. Select an option by clicking on radio button of your choice.

  3. Below the copy option are check boxes for the copy agreement. You must check both boxes to copy the sim.

  4. Click the Copy Simulation button to finish.
After you click the Copy Simulation button, you will be permitted to make changes to the sim based on the copy option you chose (for example, if you chose to only copy the model, you can change the model, but will have to build your own interface; if you chose to copy the interface and the model, you can make changes to both the model and the interface). You can click on the Model tab to make changes to the model equations, or click on the Interface tab to make changes to the user interface.
