Addicted to Oil

The U.S. Oil Policy Simulation

What would it take to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil?

During his 2006 State of the Union Address, President Bush declared that, "America is Addicted to Oil." President Bush then set goals of replacing more than 75% of US oil imports from the Middle East by 2025.

In this simulation, you can prepare your own State of the Union Address outlining your proposals for reducing U.S. dependence on oil imports.

You decide on initiatives that include everything from vehicles to run on cellulosic ethanol, to opening oil fields in Alaska, to proposing a national carpool system. Then you write a speech to the American people outlining your policies. The simulation shows if you were able to achieve your goals by 2025.

Good luck!

Choose the policy initiatives that you would like to implement.
Set your policy objectives as you write a speech to American citizens.
Then, simulate your policies to see if you were successful.
