Powersim model results not displaying

I have built a very simple powersim model and tried building an interface that allows me to change a couple of the variables and then see the results in the dashboard. I simulate the model and it switches views to the dashboard but the charts are blank. I tried building the same model in Vensim and then built the same type of interface and when I simulate the model the charts show the expected results. So it seems that I am building the interface correctly but something is amiss with the powersim version. Any suggestions?

Hi Jake,

I took a look at your “escalation 2” model.

The issue is that the interface builder expects the model to be be at the start when it loads the data. Powersim saves the current step of the model, and your model was at the end of the simulation, not the beginning. Make sure you reset your Powersim models before uploading them. I took the downloading your model to Powersim, resetting it, then reuploading it, and it worked. (I needed to delete the Baseline in the Run Manager page first).

The specific issue here is really a bug in Epicenter. It’s trying to reset the model automatically but it’s not doing it correctly. We’ll fix this in an upcoming update so that it works regardless of whether your Powersim model is reset or not.

Ah, I should have figured it was something simple. Thanks Will!
Now onward!

Will,
Sorry, but when I tried again, I still don’t see any lines on the charts. I tried reloading the model. Deleting all
previous runs. When I click some new runs on I see the axis values change so it know what the run values are
but nothing is showing up on the charts.

Hi Jake,

We fixed the model on the simulation at https://forio.com/epicenter/jake/escalation-2 but I see that no longer exists; what’s the project we should be looking at?

On a related note, when we got the axis working the x-axis had large numbers and was cut off - looks like we aren’t handling model with large ranges of dates properly. We’ll have a fix for this next week.

The new model is escalation.

Gents,
Okay, I decided to try from a fresh start. First, I modified the Powersim model to not have any permanent variables. These are variables that will retain their value that you select through a slider bar even when you hit reset. You have to select permanent restore to get these back to their original value. Then I reset the model and stored it as Escalation 4.sip. I deleted all other previous attempts from the forio site and started a new project “Escalation 4”. Did all the steps to get it running. Uploaded the file Escalation 4.sip. Put a couple charts on the Dashboard and a couple of sliders on the Decision tab. Then previewed. I actually saw the charts quickly display the results then the charts went blank. That is my latest dilemma.

Best regards,
Jake

Just to test browsers, I tried the model in Firefox but same results. No data showing on charts.

Hi Jake,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We are currently looking into your Powersim model and the issue with the chart display.

We’ll update you based on our investigation.

Hi Jake,

Just a heads-up that we found an issue with displaying calendar time on graphs which is causing your problem; we’ll have a fix out by tomorrow. Thanks for pointing this out.

To add to the above - the short-term workaround is to not plot “time” in the x-axis (which is the default). Attaching a screenshot of where this setting is. I removed it from the graphs on your dashboard and your charts display now.

We’ll let you know when we have a fix.
