Harvard Business School Publishing Simulation Series
Everest Leadership and Teamwork Simulation
The Mount Everest Leadership and Teamwork Simulation is one of a series of simulations Forio has developed in partnership with Harvard Business School Publishing.
Subscribe to this simulation and use it in your workshop or classroom.
You and four other team members will attempt to summit Mount Everest in this collaborative multi-player simulation. There are five camps or checkpoints along the route to the Summit (top) of Mt. Everest. At each camp, team members analyze information on weather, health conditions, supplies, goals, or hiking speed, and determine how much of that information to communicate to their teammates.
The team must decide how to effectively distribute supplies and oxygen bottles needed for the ascent--decisions which affect hiking speed, health, and ultimately the team's success in summiting the mountain. Failure to accurately communicate and analyze information as a team has negative consequences on team performance.
Watch a video that explains how the simulation works and learn about the challenges climbers face as they attempt to summit Mount Everest.
