The Story

Imagine stepping into the role of Chief Strategy Officer of a global digital services provider just as the world races toward the next wave of connectivity. You and up to five rival firms all start identical—same customers, same resources, same technology—but the industry around you is shifting quickly. Wireless data, wired broadband, connected home services, IoT solutions, cloud platforms, and streaming content all compete for attention in a hyper-competitive, oligopolistic digital market that is expanding unevenly across consumer and business segments. Your task: shape your company into the most valuable digital service provider in the world, maximizing market share, revenue, service quality, customer satisfaction, and cash flow.

Every year, you must decide how to price services, where to invest in infrastructure, what features to develop, which customer segments to emphasize, and how aggressively to market. But the competitive landscape changes with every move your rivals make. Success is determined not only by your own choices—pricing, functionality, quality, customer care—but also by how your decisions compare to competitors’ offerings.

Then comes the pivotal moment: the 5G spectrum auction, where bold bets can unlock next-generation wireless capability… or saddle your company with the winner’s curse, paying too much for spectrum and crippling future investments.

Across six intense competitive rounds, markets evolve, technologies shift, and customer expectations rise. Some players focus on low prices, others push premium services or enterprise-grade reliability, while others chase emerging 5G and IoT markets. In the end, only one team will balance strategy, investment, timing, and competition well enough to emerge as the market leader in the digital services revolution.
