Simulation Overview

CloudStrat is a strategic marketing simulation for participants seeking product management or strategic marketing expertise with large technology companies, technology startup firms or B2B industrial companies. The simulation teaches learners how to make strategic decision in dynamic technology markets as they navigate a software company’s transition from legacy premise-based software to software as a service (SaaS).

The Story

In this multi-player synchronous simulation, the participants play the role of the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of LegaSoft, a large multinational enterprise software vendor. LegaSoft is a market leader in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) market. It offers a “core module” for ERP and two add-on modules that can be purchased with the core module - the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) module and the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) module.

As the CSO, your are tasked to help LegaSoft navigate this business model migration from the legacy model towards the SaaS model. You are provided with data from the last two years and have to make strategic decisions for the subsequent five years. Your decisions will determine the ability of LegaSoft to survive and thrive in face of business model disruption.
