Simulation Overview

The Family Business Simulation is a single player asynchronous simulation that helps learners understand the complexities of running a family business from its inception through 80 years.


Time Requirement

  • Introduction - 10 minutes
  • Game Play - 30 minutes
  • Debrief - 45 minutes to 1 hour

The Story

Learners are tasked with building and growing a sustainable honey business as it’s passed down from generation to generation. They learn how the dynamics of family, business, and ownership intertwine.

The participants deal with rising tensions and are forced to make tradeoffs as the family and business grow, relationships change, and the market evolves. At the end of the simulation, learners discover how their decisions impact the health of the business and their relationships.
