Push vs. Pull Production Simulation Overview

In this Push vs. Pull operations management simulation single-player asynchronous game, learners manage the production facility of a computer manufacturer. The participants work with both Push and Pull production triggering mechanisms, and explore the implications of each method for meeting demand, managing inventories, and managing capacity utilization. This exercise includes six configurable scenarios and an assessment quiz built in to the exercise.

Learning Focus

  • Develop intuition about production flow in a multi-stage process
  • Compare and contrast Push, Pull, and mixed systems of production planning
  • Understand the relationship between batch size and setup times
  • Understand how bottlenecks, capacity, and utilization impact production planning and inventory control

Topics Covered

  • Inventory Control
  • Production Planning
  • Operations Management

Each simulation comes with a Teaching Guidebook for the facilitator along with 1:1 facilitator training and free trials.
